On May 28, 2011, the FISU Executive Committee selected Switzerland to host the 15th World University Golf Championship, which is scheduled to take place in 2014. The venue will be the Haut-Plateau resort in Crans-Montana.

Haut-Plateau is an easily accessible winter and summer resort featuring a wide range of luxury facilities. Over the years it has hosted a number of international sporting events, including the Omega European Masters golf tournament, the Alpine World Ski Championships and several World Cup skiing events.

The 2014 World University Golf Championship will be held in Crans-Montana from Saturday, June 21 to Saturday, June 28. The tournament will take place on the world-famous 18-hole, par-72 Severiano Ballesteros course, home to the Omega European Masters.

Participants will be welcomed in Geneva and transported by bus to their lodgings in Crans-Montana. They will stay in two magnificently situated hotels, the Grand Hôtel du Golf & Palace , next to the Severiano Ballesteros golf course; and the Hôtel Belmont , next to the Jack Nicklaus course. It is only a few minutes’ walk to the club house.

The opening and closing ceremonies will be held in an exclusive location where participants can enjoy magnificent views from Haut-Plateau over the Rhone Valley.

In organising the 2014 World University Golf Championship, the Committee can count on the support of both local and national government and sporting authorities, which all have a major stake in a successful outcome. Indeed, this event could pave the way for the canton of Valais and Switzerland to host the next Winter Universiade.
