16.1 GENERAL TERMS

The golf competitions shall be run in accordance with the most recent rules of Golf and Amateur Status of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews, unless otherwise stated. In the event of a disagreement on the interpretation of the rules, the English text shall be regarded as authoritative.

The programme and duration of competitions are fixed by the Executive Committee in agreement with the Organising Committee and the CTI. The competitions shall last four (4) days and include the following events:

– men’s individual competition (72 holes – stroke play) – women’s individual competition (72 holes – stroke play) – men’s team competition (72 holes – stroke play) – women’s team competition (72 holes – stroke play)

Each country may enter a maximum of sixteen (16) persons: eleven (11) competitors and five (5) officials. Each competitor shall have a handicap of 9 or less on entering the Championship. In each event, each country may enter:

Men: – Individual event: six (6) competitors – Team event: four (4) competitors, of whom the three (3) with the best results each day shall count for team classification per day Women: – Individual event: five (5) competitors – Team event: three (3) competitors of whom the two (2) with the best results each day shall count for team classification per day

Tie-breaks In the case of a tie between two (2) competitors or more for an individual gold medal, they shall play off. For other individual medals, the most recent day’s score shall decide and if there is still a tie, last 9, last 6 etc. shall be used. In the case of a tie between two (2) teams or more, the most recent day’s counting team score shall decide and if there is still a tie, last 9, last 6 etc. shall be used.

Where entries exceed the number of places available in the field, their number shall be limited, in the first instance, to four (4) male and three (3) female players per country. A handicap ballot shall then be applied to fill the remaining places after the teams have been allocated (in the handicap ballot players will be selected according to their handicaps, the best players being allocated first). The players shall play in the individual Championship only, except in exceptional circumstances, by a decision of the FISU Technical Delegate.

At the first General Technical Meeting, the Head of Delegation or his/her representative shall confirm and sign the official list of competitors accredited by the CIC.

The Championships shall be played over a 72-hole stroke play: 18 holes per day over the four (4) consecutive days of the event.

16.2 PRE-COMPETITION PROCEDURE Three (3) months before the Championship, the Organising Committee has the right to collect 25% of the total cost of stay per athlete and official from participating countries. – Seeding Method Seeding shall be made per country by using the team results achieved in the previous event as a guide for seeding. If the host country is not in the first five seeds, it shall be included among the first six. Where possible, players from the same country shall be kept together in a block, one playing each time after the other. The draw shall be published after all countries have registered.

16.3 TECHNICAL OFFICIALS 16.3.1 Nomination: Referees shall be appointed by the National Golf Federation of the host country in agreement with the FISU Technical Delegate. 16.3.2 Costs All referee-related costs shall be borne by the host organisation. 16.3.3 Number of technical officials needed and qualification A minimum of seven (7) referees per golf course shall be appointed. Those seven (7) referees shall consist of one (1) Chief Referee and at least one (1) other referee from countries other than the host country, who have recognised international experience. The other referees shall as a minimum be national referees, but they should ideally have international experience. All referees shall be fluent in English in order to be able to communicate with athletes.
